The art of IRC
by: JesterS

What is "IRC"? (Internet Relay Chat) A highly evolved form of communication between the people of the Internet community. Hackers have used this medium to pass ideas, thoughts and software for over 15 years.
How can I get into this deal? (www.mirc.com)

Now, for the more experienced and for the knowledge seeking people who
use IRC: I have a few methods I have found to make IRC MORE FUN! There
are scripts that do a lot of cool stuff in IRC, but if you want anything done
right you have to do it yourself. Back 5-10 years ago, taking a channel,
nickname or kicking someone off irc was easy! Nowadays you can go to networks like, (www.webchat.org) and find services such as Chanserv, Nickserv and ip security that take the fun out of IRC. Ever had a stupid fuck in a channel that you can't kick him out of? Ever had someone take your nickname, channel or take you down? Then follow these simple steps:

1) Do not use the same password for nicks, channels, emails, web pages
or other online security protected services. An oper(Operator, Admin) has access to your password and if
you use networks like webchat they have your email. If you use the same
password for all your services you have just compromised yourself.

2) If you are on a network that does not have ip security then get a
wingate and connect to the network. (For wingate IP's go to
www.cyberarmy.com).
This will hide your IP from destructive wannabe hackers.

3) Do not accept DCC! This allows another person to get access to your
computer!

4) Do not give your real name, address or phone #.

Now, if you want to do those 4 things to someone here is the info.

1) If you want someone's password, here is how I find the most effective
way to get it.
Do information check on them, such as on webchat it is. /ns info
nick and /cs info #channel or /whois nick.
Also, most people use a password that is contained in their info. Such
as,

*** Nickserv Bob Smack55 (I rule, you all suck!)

Bob's password is "Smack55" which he has been dumb enough to
use as his ident. I would say about 7 out of 10 people do this.
WOW, you have found his password! Now in his information it says..

*** Nickserv Email: bob@hotmail.com

Go to hotmail.com and try; Login: bob, Password: Smack55. Does that login/pass work? About 5 out of 10 people do that.
When bob is online, do a whois. If bob is on a channel that says
@bob. Then do a /cs info #channel. If it says he is the founder, try
this; /cs identify #channel Smack55. Does it work? I bet 9 out of 10
people use the same password for their nick as their channel, I know
I do!

Don't tell bob or change his password, watch for a while and
you might find some cool info. Like this one chick whose e-mail I compromised, she got a confirmation email about buying cd's. I changed her password and then changed the address for her cd's! COOL for me!

2-3) If you can get someone's IP, cool for you. Try some simple programs
that exploit bugs in programs or operating systems. If all else fails,
get a flood program that uses TCP sockets to flood their Internet
connection! This is really annoying if you
have a 56k and an attacker has DSL! If you cannot get a target's IP address, try DCC.
DCC send them or DCC chat with them, then open up netstat and watch to see if their IP pops up!!

4) This is for people who want to fuck around with someone, be someone's
friend, or get someone's info. Get on a wingate, (www.cyberarmy.com) and
change your nick and stuff, then scare the hell out of them. What? They
can't find out who you are because you are on a wingate, to bad for them!

Well that about raps it up, for the "Art of IRC". Play safe or have some
kick ass fun! These methods do not always work and they are not for all
networks. But if you spend enough time on one network you can find their
bugs. Of course, I do not take any responsibility for your actions!
