The code for the latest build of Android is now available, meaning anyone with the right knowhow can get modding right this very minute.

Gentleman, screwdrivers at the ready. Jean-Baptiste Queru, Google’s software engineer, made the announcement via Google Groups.

“We recommend that you create new clients, even if you’re working in the master branch,” Queru wrote. “It’ll make your clients smaller and faster to sync.” Proprietary binaries are also available for the Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus right now. Those for the Nexus S and Xoom will follow, though there’s no word on exactly when. These will be over the air updates.
