AirDefense & Sysware to Monitor HITBSecConf2004's Wireless Network

Sysware, the leading hardware and software distributor in Taiwan, and AirDefense, the leader in 24x7 wireless LAN (WLAN) security monitoring, today announced the two companies are continuing to educate the Asia Pacific market on the reality of wireless risks by monitoring the wireless network at the upcoming Hack in the Box Security Conference 2004 to be held from October 4th to the 7th in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

AirDefense, a regular surveyor of technology conferences, will study the wireless LAN and Bluetooth traffic over the course of the conference identifying usage patterns, network bottlenecks and problematic stations and access points, indicative of the interference and performance degradation.

“Monitoring a hacker’s conference is different from a vendor conference,” said Richard Rushing, Chief Security Officer of AirDefense. “The types of attacks we expect to see should be increasingly more sophisticated than those of years past. For instance, in the United States, this year hackers have moved on to what we refer to as ‘level three attacks,’ where hackers are actually injecting traffic into the network and manipulating data.”

Sysware will monitor the conference and share the data with conference attendees using AirDefense Enterprise, the patent-pending technology that incorporates distributed sensors and an appliance. The remote sensors monitor all wireless LAN activities 24x7 and communicate with the appliance, which correlates and analyzes the data to provide centralized management of real-time rogue detection, intrusion protection and health monitoring of the wireless LAN.

“We are pleased to have AirDefense monitor the wireless data cloud at HITBSecConf2004” said Dhillon Andrew Kannabhiran, Founder and Chief Executive Officer for Hack In The Box. “The inherent security risks in WiFi networks and access points has made it increasingly necessary for organizations to take a proactive approach to their wireless network security.”

AirDefense and Sysware are exhibiting at Hack in the Box in booth number 9. To arrange a meeting with AirDefense, please contact Gloria Wu at 886.2.2368.6171 ext 1510.
