Geohot busted for pot possession on the way to SXSW
World famous iPhone “jailbreak” hacker, George Hotz aka geohot, was arrested for pot possession in route to the SXSW conference in Austin.
Hotz was almost a household name back in 2008 when he jailbroke the iPhone by physically taking it apart eventually moving on to work at Facebook. While on his way to give a talk at SXSW, Hotz had to pass through a border patrol checkpoint (odd, we know, considering Hotz did not cross any international borders, but anyway) where Department of Homeland Security officers brought drug dogs to each car. Hotz and his passengers were pulled over for further searching where Hotz was found with 1/4 oz. of marijuana and chocolate edibles equivalent to less than 1/8 oz. of the drug.
Unfortunately when turned over to local sheriffs, they took the whole weight of the chocolate as a measure and consequently Hotz was booked for a felony. He posted $1500 bail but was unavailable for further comment.
