French police, working with Conditional Access suppliers Viaccess and Canal Plus, have arrester 26 alleged smart card pirates.

26 people were arrested by the French police on Tuesday morning following a lawsuit filed from Viaccess. The people arrested had allegedly hacked several operators, including CANAL+ using software they found on the internet.

Since last June, Viaccess worked in collaboration with the French cyber-police to find the suspects. They were able to track their IP numbers which led to the arrest of the individuals. One of the hackers arrested lives in Roubaix (north of France) and was reselling the information in its software form via several forums on the internet.
