Phishing attack target Barclays PINsentry punters

posted onOctober 22, 2008

Hackers are getting clever and deliberately targeting users of the Barclays PINsentry e-banking system. According to a phishing e-mail reaching the inboxes of Barclays' PINsentry users, the recipient is asked to view an attached file and enter his/her account particulars.

This is necessary, says the email, in order to upgrade the software in the PINsentry device.

As you might imagine, it's all a scam, designed to extract valuable online banking data from Barclays users who would otherwise be protected using the PINsentry system.
