Murdoch magazine loses internet battle
ATTEMPTS BY the Murdoch-owned New York Post to get its online readers to hand over personal data in return for "news" have backfired.
The New York Post demanded on Tuesday that anyone trying to read its online edition must provide their name, age, home address, home telephone number and income, before they could read all the news that was fit to pixellate. The paper’s spinsters pushed the move as an "opportunity to better serve our readers", but the problem was the registration process didn’t work well. Loyal readers were unable to gain access to the site, making it a laughing stock amongst the various news blogs.
