Apple Confirms Reports Of Video Problems With MacTels
Apple Computer on Wednesday confirmed reports of video-display problems in the new iMacs that are based on Intel processors.
A Mac enthusiast site had reported that in playing video on Apple's Front Row media browser, some iMacs showed random horizontal lines, ghosting, video tearing and other problems.
"Apple is aware of this issue and is looking into it," the company said in an email. "If a customer has any technical issues, they should contact AppleCare." AppleCare is the company's support unit.

Why Apple Really Ditched PowerPC
Apple wants to make their switch to Intel chips seem like a no-brainer, but the reality of it was a lot more complicated than just faster chips for Macs. Apple's claims of their Intel systems being "4-5x faster" than their PowerPC systems is a little much to swallow, especially with Intel Macs landing in users' hands and failing to live up to the hype. So if these Intel chips aren't really that much faster than the G5, why did Apple make the switch? The answer to this question is a lot more interesting than what Apple's telling you.

Networks' iTunes gamble paying off
Television networks took a leap into the unknown when they started selling their shows on Apple's iTunes online store, but even in these early days, it's starting to look as if that faith in digital downloads was well placed.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs welcomed Walt Disney Co. and Pixar Animation Studios content to the service in October. Now there are 40 different series, each episode of which costs a standardized $1.99 to purchase, and more are on the way.
