AI DJ's
Submitted by hitbsecnews on Mon, 2001-01-01 21:53
The common club DJ may be replaced with a computer AI program that is programmed to mimic a DJ. "The prototype software was created by Dave Cliff, an artificial intelligence researcher at Hewlett-Packard in Bristol. It can sequence and seamlessly mix a full set of tracks, as long as they are provided in a digital format." Read the rest here. I wonder what my homie Jooz would have to say about this!

The code
Too bad the article doesn't mention when the software will be released, or where we can get more information (like the author's website for instance). I would love to get my hands on a copy and test it out myself. It would certainly be interesting to see what kind of mix you'd get from say Paul Johnson and perhaps Led Zeppelin!
urggghhh!!
i guess that would say it all. clubs need a human element and someone to guide the music. if the music sux then a good dj would be able to adjust the tempo and maybe even switch genres completely to suit the taste. and when the music and the crowd have peaked, a DJ can crank it up and elevate your conciousness to the next level.
perhaps having something totally done with AI would be good, but i cant imagine ppl paying good money to go to gatecrasher on new years eve to listen to DJ P3.733 and MC ThunderBird. *grin*
as l33t sed, a personal test would be good, and if yer curious enuff to sound what paul johnson and led zep sound like together, go get Virtual Turntable and play around with some mp3z.
me? i'm just gonna grab more Paul O stuff and chill. heh.

I do wish you'd make a link to the site directly like http://www.shockwave.com/bin/shockwave/content/content.jsp?id=ladyfingers . Just post the comment in HTML format instead of plain text. It's all good though and I'll be checking it out real soon.
